Last weekend we went to a really cool event at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton, Michigan. The theater is located at the corner of Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads, adjacent to the Cherry Hill Village subdivision. It’s an absolutely beautiful venue for all levels of talent and we are really lucky to have it here in our backyards.
On Saturday, the theater hosted their annual International Festival. We’ve never attended this before, so it was high time to check it out. The event lasted for five hours – yes, really, five hours! – but with open seating and open doors, it was a come-and-go leisurely opportunity to watch some performances, stroll through the snacks and displays, then come back to a different seat (for a different view) and see some more performances. We were able to drop in on the Indian music and dancing, Irish fiddling and singing, and American dance by local studio Dancin’ Feet, which is the resident studio at Canton’s recreational facility, Summit on the Park near the Glengarry subdivision.
We came and went, strolled, snacked, and had a really great time. Wish we could have arrived earlier to see even more performances because what we did see was absolutely fabulous. Dance, music, and drama from around the world right here in our own beautiful community theater.
We have some truly talented folks in the Plymouth, Canton, and Northville Michigan areas and it’s nice for them to perform for the community, and nice for us all to appreciate the vibrant community we have.
