Where, oh where, is the Great Pumpkin?

In Canton, of course!

There is just no mistaking it now:  the fall season is in full swing in beautiful Canton, Plymouth and Northville, Michigan.  The sun sits lower in the sky, the air is crisp, and the leaves are transitioning into gold and red tones. But, it isn’t truly fall around here until the Pumpkin Patch opens for the season.

Located on the north side of Cherry Hill Road, between Canton Center and Beck, a simple red-brick farmhouse sits before a huge, open field.  But, look again – it’s a local treasure!  A large banner on the red barn welcomes you to this pumpkin patch on a busy road amidst residential subdivisions.

For several weeks, a small sign at the entrance of the driveway quietly announced “Open October 1.” Every kid (or kid-at-heart!) noted that date!  That first day of October started out as a cloudy, windy, miserable, 42-degree morning that turned into a sunny, lovely 60-degree afternoon.  The rest of the weekend was picture-perfect, and exactly what the beautiful month of October typically looks like in southeast Michigan.

Next to the farmhouse, check out the red barn where additional harvest-themed bounty is available, including hay bales, corn stalks, and maize bundles.  If you’re strictly after a pumpkin, there are dozens to choose from already waiting.  Or, if you are more of a hunter, grab a wagon and take your time to wander through the pumpkin field yourself to find the perfect one.

You may have a particular size or shape in mind for carving.  Or, perhaps you’re looking for the elusive white pumpkin for home decorating.   Maybe your mission is to find the “Great Pumpkin” this year!  Whatever you are looking for, it’s here.  And not only are the prices very reasonable, but the rural ambience provides a peaceful moment.  No bells and whistles here, just a beautiful, natural pumpkin patch.

The bells and whistles come from The Bittinger Team who gives you the experience and trust you deserve when buying or selling a home in Canton, Plymouth or Northville.  Always at your service – whatever the season.   Click here to contact us!

  1. I love this pumpkin patch! I want to know how I can contact them to find out their hours. My husband works long hours now, but I was hoping to go Friday after he gets home. Can you tell me how to contact them?

    Thanks!

    1. Valerie – they are on Cherry Hill Road, just west of Canton Center in Canton Michigan! We hope you made it there!
