Commemorating Memorial Day in Southeast Michigan

Memorial Day weekend unofficially signals the start of summer and all the goodness that the season brings in southeast Michigan.  Parties on the patio, boating, camping, barbeques – all wonderful, memorable events that round out summer.  Life is good!

While hanging out at the Canton Public Library earlier this week, we were struck by the simple but truly fabulous display behind the checkout desk.  The CPL folks often have pretty flower arrangements on that counter, but this week there is something different.  The display reminds us BEFORE WE CELEBRATE, LET’S COMMEMORATE.  This was so poignant and so true, that we just had to give props to the CPL for reminding us why we have this special day in the first place.

Commemorate Before You Celebrate

So this weekend, we’re certainly enjoy everything that the start of the summer season has to offer in the Plymouth, Canton, Northville and surrounding communities, but before doing so we’ll also remember to take a moment to commemorate the occasion and recognize the sacrifice that so many have given for all of us.
