As I’ve mentioned in some of my previous Canton, Michigan real estate blogs, staging your home correctly can make a world of difference when it comes to selling your home.
In fact, it’s been shown that home buyers consistently offer more for staged homes than they do for homes that aren’t staged.
Today, I’m going to tell you about how to effectively stage your kitchen, which is undoubtedly one of the most important rooms in a home for buyers.

Tips for Correctly Staging the Kitchen in Your Canton Home
Some home owners will spend thousands of dollars remodeling their kitchen before they list their property on the market.
While adding value to your home by remodeling the kitchen will certainly help make it more attractive on the Canton real estate market, there are also several relatively inexpensive steps you can take to get your home’s kitchen in top shape for showings.
Here are some ways in which you can effectively stage your kitchen:
- Give your kitchen a deep cleaning.
- Clean the baseboards and vacuum any rugs in the kitchen.
- Replace burned-out light bulbs, such as the one over the stove.
- Clean and store dishes immediately after using them. Avoid leaving them in the sink or the dishwasher since the buyer will be checking out both locations.
- Organize your spices alphabetically. This sends a message to the home owner that you’ve taken extra good care of your kitchen – as well as the rest of your home.
- Depersonalize the kitchen by removing photos, notes and other mementos from the fridge.
- Keep your countertops clutter-free by only leaving out a few items that helps create a nice ambiance, such as fruit or a cookbook.
- Consider setting the kitchen table to help home buyers visualize what it’d be like to live there.
- Consider setting out a few plants around the kitchen to create a warm, inviting atmosphere
- While your home is on the market, avoid cooking so often in the kitchen. The last thing you want to do is turn-off a buyer because the smell of the meal you made the night before is off-putting to them.
- If your kitchen table is particularly large, consider replacing it temporarily with a smaller one to make the room feel bigger.
- Don’t set anything directly in front of windows as this will prevent all the available sunlight from getting in. And as I’ve previously mentioned, light helps make a home feel more spacious and more inviting.
