A new pizza joint recently opened in Canton, Michigan – with an Indian twist.
Located on the northwest corner of Canton Center Road and Ford Road, Curry on Crust Desi Pizza brings something new to the pizza market in the Plymouth, Canton, and Northville Michigan area. The pizzas have the overall look of pizzas as we know them, but with Indian spices and sauces replacing the usual ingredients we expect.
The pizzas come in two sizes – those shown here are four slices and about 10″ in diameter. Also offered is a larger size – about 14″. We checked out the place for lunch, so the smaller size was more than ample. In fact, everyone took leftovers home (and boy did they smell good).
Check out these two pizzas. This one is the Spicy Veg Treat, featuring “House special sauce (akin to a spicy tomato-based sauce), cheese, onions, tomatoes, olives, mushroom, and green chilies.” (Yes, you can ask for it mild!) The toppings are perfectly proportioned and very fresh! This was delicious!
And this is the Palak Paneer (Indian cheese) Pizza, with “Spinach sauce, cheese, malai paneer, onion, and red peppers.” The crust is terrific – not thick, but sturdy enough to support the toppings. This was scrumptious!
Beautifully formed, and cooked perfectly, these pizzas are a wonderful, healthy alternative to traditional pizzas. But, be forewarned, when placing your order you should be sure to specify your preference for heat (from spices!) as even the “mild” version of Spicy Veg Treat was at the top end of this wimpy diner’s tolerance range!
Other items on the menu include garlic bread, cheese chili bread, bread sticks, fresh herb flat bread, veggie puffs, and masala wings. They do have a website, but it’s under construction so check back regularly or stop in for a paper version.
With about 25 veggie, paneer, and chicken specialty pizzas to choose from, not to mention the Build-Your-Own menu, there are plenty of options to try. I know we will be going back to sample other combinations. This is an excellent choice for takeout, and with a small but clean and tidy eat-in area, a great place to stop in as well. Two thumbs-up from this crowd!

I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! I’m a vegan so it’s difficult to eat out. They have many vegan options (not just one or two like many restaurants). Their potatoe wedges are delish along w there pizzas! This place just made it to my top three favorite restaurants!
Still up there with our faves too! Glad you liked it as much as we did. We keep going back!
