Part of the beauty of a blog about community life is discovering that around every corner there lies something wonderful. We have shared with you many great things about living in Plymouth, Canton, and Northville Michigan over the years, from local events to restaurant news, and all of them show just how much these great communities have to offer.
This week, we have a couple of stories that will touch your heart and that we think you should know about. Here is one of them – we’ll save the other for another blog post later in the week (so check back on Friday!).
Local Teen Has A Project
Please meet Canton 8th grader, Jordan Koshowsky. Jordan is a Boy Scout working on his Eagle Scout Rank. For his project, Jordan has chosen to collect gently used and new baseball and softball equipment which he will give to a local charity to help keep kids on the field and learning about (and loving) baseball.
The equipment he collects will first be offered to Plymouth-Canton Little League (PCLL). PCLL will distribute it amongst families in need who have players registered for the 2014 season. Some of the gear may become part of team equipment bags to upgrade or supplement existing team equipment. If anything is left over – and hopefully there will be lots! – it will be donated to the Detroit Tigers’ Gloves for Kids program that supports youth leagues throughout Michigan.
You can learn more about Jordan’s project and how you can donate by clicking here. It kind of all began when he met up with the coach of the Ugandan Little League team at last year’s Little League World Series …
Clean Out Your Garage
Jordan is looking for your donation of gently used and new baseball and softball equipment of all kinds. Here are a few words from Jordan about where and when to drop off donations:
I wanted to start by thanking those of you who have already donated items to my Eagle Scout Project. Thanks to many of you I’m already off to a good start collecting items. I am excited for this weekend’s collection event. There are multiple ways that you can help.
1 – Bring gently used or new baseball/softball equipment to Canton Charter Academy with you on Saturday and I will be there to collect it from 12pm thru 4pm. Receipt forms for tax purposes will be available to you from PCLL.
2 – [S]hare [this information] with your friends to help me get the word out about Saturday’s collection event.
3 – If you are unable to attend you can also drop of items at Precision Baseball in Canton Michigan thur April 12th. I have placed a collection box there.
Donating to the cause will make you feel good, and so will having that extra space in your garage!
For more information, please direct your questions to Plymouth-Canton Little League by writing to info@ply-canLL.com who will get the message to Jordan for you. Follow Jordan’s progress on PCLL’s Facebook page by clicking here (give them a LIKE while you’re there!).
All of us here at The Bittinger Team wish Jordan a very successful collection!
