Princess Parties in Plymouth, Canton, Northville

One of the things we like to do in our blog about community life in Plymouth, Canton, and Northville MI is to tell you about local businesses that you may not have known about.  Today we are doing just that by welcoming Stephanie Wicke of Once Upon a Time Princess Parties in Northville!

What is a Princess Party?!

Having a children’s party, but in need of entertainment ideas? Once Upon a Time Princess Parties can help! Let us bring the Princess, Fairy, or Rock Star to entertain your party guest with a 45-minute, fully interactive show with a professional sound system. The kids will be singing, dancing, and having the time of their lives! The best part is, amidst the fun, lessons about good manners are taught as well as what it means to be a good friend or a true princess.

How It All Started

I am a trained dancer with a BFA degree in teaching and dance performance.  I moved to MI in 2001. Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of professional performance work for a dancer, so I had to get creative and develop more sides to my talents!

Right away, I began doing children’s theatre with a company called Imagination Theatre in which we would put on short musical/educational shows for kids throughout MI on safety and health. I still perform in various shows with Imagination Theatre today and they are the reason I am now doing princess parties!

You see, a nanny  sitting in the audience at one of their shows saw me perform and decided that she wanted me to play Belle at a birthday party for one of the families she works for. After that party, requests for more parties and princesses came in and my business took off!

Personally, I feel very blessed to live in a community that appreciates live performances. Through teaching dance at Performers Edge, teaching and performing at the Marquis Theatre, and as a member at OLV, I have seen how Friday night concerts, Marquis shows, Tunes on Tuesdays, parades, and the many events in downtown Northville are always well attended and appreciated. Now that we live in such a tech world, this is a relief for artists like me!
