Around here, Father’s Day weekend has a couple of great things going for it. First, obviously, it’s that great time to get together with family and friends and celebrate the dads in our lives. And, it’s time for Canton’s annual Liberty Fest celebration. This is a terrific 3-day event put on by Canton Leisure Services that gives us all a break from the everyday and a chance to enjoy our community. Fun things to do? Yup, this is one of them.
Some of the Great Stuff Going On
By great stuff, you can expect:
* concession stands with all our favorite carnival foods
* a midway!
* a marketplace of local crafters, retailers, and organizations on the path that circles the pond
* a leisurely stroll through a beautiful, local venue
* a kid-zone arts and crafts tent
* America’s Most Wanted classic car show
* awesome live entertainment in the amphitheater and on the Canton Live! stage
* a wildlife exhibit
* an international festival
* a delicious fundraising spaghetti dinner for just $7 per adult (Friday) and annual pancake breakfast (Saturday)
* the Liberty Run (bonus: Statue of Liberty costumes provided to runners!)
* seriously fabulous fireworks (Saturday night)

Many Activities are Free!
And although some of these have a fee associated with them – like the midway rides, shopping, Run registration, food – there is no charge to enter Heritage Park, wander around, and enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere. Parking is free too! A great way to enjoy the early summer and to experience another reason why Canton MI is a great place to live!
