If you are here in Canton MI, or even in any of the surrouding areas of Plymouth, Northville, Westland, Farmington, Livonia, or Novi, you may have been at our Summit on the Park recreation facility for the annual tree lighting event yesterday. This was Canton’s 34th Tree Lighting!
Usually held on the first Wednesday of December, the Annual Tree Lighting is a great time for all. It’s sponsored by Canton Leisure Services and most of the event is free, except for a $5 fee per family for indoor activities.
The banquet lobby was the site of the marketplace. Great to see our local craft vendors again since the farmer’s market ended for the season!
The Madrigals entertained guests at the tree lighting and then indoors near Santa’s photo area. So very talented!
How about a family sing-a-long? Sure! Kevin Devine lead the fun … and he also brought along lots of great little instruments for his guests to play.

The Summit’s resident dance studio, Dancin’ Feet, performed their holiday-themed show several times over the course of the evening. They were incredible!
Santa was, of course, present to meet with everyone and a cookie decorating station was a ton of fun. Kids also enjoyed a craft room. Some made beautiful decorated snow-measuring sticks. Kind of funny since it’s December 6th and we’ve barely seen a flake yet! Well, there were the couple on Black Friday, but they didn’t stick so they really don’t count. Now, mark it on your calendar for next year because it is just such a great event to get your holiday spirit stirred up!
