They say the weather is going to turn this weekend – wetter and colder – so what are you going to do for fun? Round out March is Reading Month by seeing SEUSSICAL JR – a musical – at Canton’s Village Theater in Cherry Hill Village!
We’ve told you about other shows produced by Canton’s Forever After Productions, and you need to know about this one too. Over 90 highly talented kids take to the stage for performances Thursday through Sunday with four additional shows next week for schools to enjoy.
In Their Own Words
The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge–not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.
Yes, Great for Little Kids
This show is perfect for the whole family and an excellent way to introduce younger children to the arts while keeping the older ones well entertained. Running a little under two hours with one brief intermission, even younger audience members can handle it … and they will be riveted by the characters, colorful sets, and certainly all that amazing quirkiness that Seuss stories encompass.
Directorial Debut
Local talent Olivia Rhoades makes her directorial debut with this production. Olivia has been a performer and choreography in many other FAP productions. In this photo, Olivia addresses the cast following a rehearsal.
Brought to you by … FAP
The show is brought to us by Canton’s Forever After Productions (FAP). FAP prides itself on offering a positive theater learning experience for children, teens and young adults through productions such as Seussical Jr, in addition to theater and vocal classes. With their new facility in Canton’s Cherry Hill Village, FAP now has a place to call their own.
Kudos to the families of all these kids who put in dozens of hours creating sets, costuming, marketing, and being present behind the scenes to make the show go on. And, kudos and thanks to Karen Andrews for the wonderful photos used here!
