Selling Your Plymouth Property

Here are some simple ways in which you can get your Michigan home in peak condition for showings on the Plymouth real estate market:

  • Declutterize.  This really should be the first thing you do when you decide to list your Plymouth home.  There are numerous benefits to declutterizing your home early.  One, your home will seem a lot bigger to prospective buyers without so much junk crowding it.  Two, you’re life will be a lot easier when you move because you won’t be taking stuff with you that you’re never going to use anyway.  Three, it provides you with an opportunity to help someone else.  After all, one man’s junk is another’s treasure.  Consider donating any items you no longer want to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.
  • Reorganize.  Once you’ve cleared away any items you no longer want, consider reorganizing your home to maximize space in each room.  Not only will this make your home seem bigger but it will also make your home more visually appealing in general.
  • Give your home a fresh coat of paint.  This is one of the cheapest ways to give your home a major facelift.  I recommend going with a neutral color if you do repaint a room.  That’s because neutral colors tend me make small spaces seem bigger.  Plus, they’re universally appealing.
  • Consider replacing your old flooring.  If you’re home’s been on the market for a while, you may consider doing a more time intensive project like replacing your flooring, especially if you’re in an older home.  Let’s face it, carpet doesn’t always age well and neither does linoleum.  Consider upgrading your home and giving it a contemporary vibe by adding hardwood floors.  If you’d prefer to not make such a large investment, you may consider wood laminate, which is easy to install yourself.
