The horns blew at 7:00am sharp to start the 33rd annual Detroit Marathon on Sunday, Oct 17, 2010.
Oh, the memories! What a nostalgic race this is for me as it was the first marathon I ran back in 2005. I loved it so much that I completed a second one in 2006 in Chicago.
This Canton Real Estate Agent’s Running Days are Over
A couple of bum knees later my running days may have come to a halt. When I visited an Orthopedic Surgeon earlier this year he told me my cartilage in my knees is about shot and no more pounding for me. Boo Hoo!
Try as I might to get excited on biking as I was about running, it just doesn’t cut it. I loved the comeraderie of running with my buddies, especially with my buddy Becky, or the solitude of running many, many miles on my own. The longest training run I did all by myself was a 20 miler, listening to Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and Tina Turner (yeah, I’m old!).
Congratulations to all my buddies who ran this year’s race…Tami Bealert, Tom Gerou, Kuk-kyu Koh, Christine Hughes, Bryan Amman, David Comb, Dennis Dyskstra, Gary Palis, and Maureen Van Hook!
This was me finishing Detroit in 2005.
