Canton Farmers Market is coming to a close for the season. The market is located by the Bartlett-Travis House on the grounds of Preservation Park at 500 N. Ridge Road.
October 17 is the last Sunday of the season that the market will be open. There is nothing like the fresh produce that is locally grown and offered at these farmers markets. The Canton Farmers Market is quickly becoming one of the premiere markets in the area with so much to offer. This summer, I visited a few other markets in the area and found that the Canton market seems to be a happy place to be. There is always so much more going on at the market than just the sale of produce and crafts.
This year, for example, we had Chef Extraordinaire, Paul Penney, out there every month cooking up some fresh veggies. Then there is the Master Gardener giving composting and pruning lessons. In addition the Farmer’s Market offers Story Time for the kids and apple tasting. We had a blast at the Village Faire on Aug 22 with a Corn Roast, petting farm, knitting demonstrations and music everywhere. Lee and I head straight from Church to pick up our little furry friend, Niles and head out to the market. He loves the attention he gets there.

According to Market Manger Tina Lloyd, it’s been a great market this year overall. “Looking back over the year, the market has enjoyed a nearly 50% increase in the number of market-goers over last year.”
The Market has added 10 food vendors along with 2 natural soap vendors to the mix this season. Lloyd goes on to state, “The increase in patrons is most likely due to the addition of these new vendors along with the fact that people are becoming more conscious of buying fresh and buying local.”
With only one Sunday left, don’t miss your chance to meet, shop, and stroll at the Canton Farmers Market. Admission is free.
