5 Fun Things To Do In Plymouth This Weekend

This weekend, September 6-7, 2014, is gearing up to be a blast in Plymouth, MI! Of course, we’ll be the first to say that Plymouth Rocks (just like the slogan says!) every weekend, but this one is especially fabulous.

1.  Plymouth Fall Festival

Beautiful downtown Plymouth is closed off for a special festival that is always well-attended and well-received by locals and visitors alike.  What can you expect there?  Oh, just a few little events, like these:

  • car, craft, pet shows
  • food booths
  • midway carnival
  • live entertainment
  • Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast
  • the Plymouth Rotary’s very popular bbq chicken dinner

Can you believe that this event has been around in one form or another since 1956?  It started as a community family picnic sponsored by the Rotary Club. And here it is all these years later encompassing the entire downtown area!  Come, enjoy, and stay a while!

2.  Plymouth Farmers Market

Phenomenal produce and goods are available at the market this time of year.  See you at The Gathering (next to The Penn Theater) 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.  You don’t even have to like veggies … they have yummy baked goods and other stuff, too! 3.  Embrace Life 5K Run/Walk Join St. Mary Mercy (Livonia) to raise cancer awareness on Sunday at 9 a.m. Click here for more information!

3.  Check out a Whalers game!

If you’ve never been to one, now is the time to check out Plymouth Whalers hockey.  Plymouth hosts the Saginaw Spirit.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Compuware Arena on Beck Road, north of M-14. Oh, and a portion of the proceeds of this exhibition game benefit Plymouth-Canton Schools so why wouldn’t you want to do that?!  Click here for more information.

4.  Visit the Plymouth Historical Museum

The special exhibition Wheels of Summer is around until November 2nd, but if you’re downtown for the Festival you can drop in and check it out. It’s a wonderful collection of the history of bicycles, tricycles, toy cars, model trains, and other things on wheels. Check out their website here.

5.  Orchard Time!

You know it – it’s orchard time!  Plymouth Orchards is open and the cider and donuts are calling your name!  (Well, they’re calling our name, but whatever.) The weather will be perfect for a visit to this popular local apple orchard. I can almost taste the donuts now!

Whatever you do with your weekend, we hope it brings you joy and happiness!

Till next time,
