Now that summer has officially arrived, it’s time to live easy and find even more fun things to do in Plymouth Michigan. How about a good ole-fashioned drive-in theater? Yes, as a matter of fact, we do have one right here in Plymouth MI at Compuware Arena. This week we welcome Ashley Painter, Compuware’s Director of Group Sales, as our guest blogger to tell you all about this affordable family-friendly experience.
In Their Own Words
When it isn’t hockey season at Compuware Arena, Home of the Plymouth Whalers, we transform our parking lot into a 3-screen, fully functioning drive-in movie theater! The arena has been here for about 14 years, and the drive-in for about 11 years. The theater operates from June through September every year. Compuware Arena Drive-In is the perfect place for family outings, group parties, or just a quiet night out!
Family-Friendly!
We are as family-friendly as possible! We have a fully functioning restaurant that will deliver anything off the menu right to your vehicle, FOR FREE! We also have a concession trailer located in the middle of our parking lot, for your convenience. We show first run movies – from family friendly to the most anticipated, action-packed. There is always something for everyone here at Compuware. We are a full-service food and entertainment provider.
Some Practical Details
To watch the movies, you sit in your car or bring chairs! You listen to the movie through your FM dial, so we recommend that you bring a stereo/boombox if you plan to sit outside of your vehicle so you can hear the audio. We have porta-johns outside each screen for your convenience. The building is usually open through the first movie for regular bathrooms.
Weather – Yay or Nay?
Yes, weather is important when determining whether the movies can run. If the drive-in has to close, we announce it on our website and social media as soon as we get the word! There will also be signs placed outside the parking lot.
Location, Location, Location
The arena is located at 14900 Beck Road, just north of M-14 on the east side.
Plymouth is centrally located between Northville, Livonia, Novi, Canton, and Brighton. For those who have families and don’t want to spend a ton of money for a great, fun night out, we have affordable Whalers games, drive-in movie tickets, and various other activities operating year round.
