Glory Days of Summer

Oh the glory days of summer are here in Plymouth, Canton, and Northville, Michigan!  July brings the very best of the best that summer has to offer and there is no shortage of great events to help fill your days.  Here’s what’s up around town this weekend … because you really don’t want to miss this good stuff!

  • Art in the Park – another big event in Plymouth!  Check out the exhibits, items for sale, food, music, and overall spirit of this annual crowd pleasing event.  All the details are available by clicking here.  Don’t miss it! And, many of the shops and restaurants downtown are having special events of their own so check them out while you’re there.

 

  • Family Camp Out and Movie Night in Canton’s Heritage Park – Friday night (to Saturday).  See “The Smurfs” movie under the stars and stay the night in your tent (if you want!).

 

  • Canton Farmer’s Market – at Preservation Park (Ridge, north of Cherry Hill) in Canton.  Sunday, 10-1.  Besides fabulous, locally grown produce and goods you can get lunch, entertain the kids, and take in some live music.

  • Summer Jazz Concerts in the DDA, Canton – this week at Sam’s Club on Ford Road at Lotz.  Free, at 7 p.m. This week featuring jazz keyboardist Nate Harasim.  A different concert every Friday, so stay in the know by checking the schedule here AND learn about great local restaurants offering carryout discounts during the concerts!

 

  • Northville Free Concert – in the Town Square, 7 p.m.  Bring your lawn chair and relax!

 

  • FREE admission to the Detroit Institute of Arts on Sunday, July 15th for Canton residents!  Just show your driver’s license or state-issued identification!

 

  • Northville’s 18th Century Encampment – Mill Race Village in Northville.  The Ottawa Longrifles set up camp and take you back in time!  Free, and runs both Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more information.

 

  • Monday, July 16 is the date of the Ice Cream Social sponsored by Bumpers, Bikes and Bands.  The event isn’t until July 26th, but who doesn’t like to get together over ice cream?!  Meet at the Firehouse on Spring Street, 5-7 p.m.
