Selling Homes on the Canton Michigan Housing Market

Here’s a quick summary of the recent market activity we’ve seen in Canton, Michigan:

  • Currently there are 419 resale homes and new homes on the market.
  • Between February and April, the average price per square foot for Canton homes was $81, down 1.2 percent when compare do the same period in 2011.
  • During that same period, the median sales price was $142,583 in Canton, down 4 percent when compared year-over-year.
  • Meanwhile, the total number of home sales decreased by 26.8 percent between 2011 and 2012.
  • Here’s how other communities compared when it came to median sales price:

Northville: $200,395
Salem: $139,000
Novi: $425,000
Livonia: $102,500
South Lyon: $209,900

  • During the week ending on May 23, the average listing price for a Canton home for sale was $222,735, up 2.4 percent when compared to the week before.
  • During that previous week, the average listing price was $217,457.
  • During the week ending on Mary 23, the average listing price for 1-bedroom Canton homes was $64,297.
  • The average listings price for a 2-bedroom home was $114,172
  • And the average listing price for 3- and 4- bedroom homes were $176,618 and $282,941 respectively.
  • Here’s how other communities stacked up in terms of average listing price during that week:

Northville: $468,308
Salem: $450,000
Novi: $425,000
Livonia: $102,500
South Lyon: $209,900
