Around Plymouth, Canton, and Northville Michigan This Weekend

It may be the middle of winter in Canton Michigan, Plymouth Michigan, and Northville Michigan but that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of places to go and things to see.  Here’s a rundown for the coming weekend – in addition to the phenomenal Plymouth Ice Fest.  No reason to hang out at home when you canget out and enjoy our amazing communities!

Northville

  • Beauty & the Beast” – a family musical – runs at the Marquis Theater, 133 E. Main, Northville for ages 3+ at various times throughout the weekend. 
  • Love Me Knot … An Italian Wedding” (dinner theater and cabaret) at Genitti’s Hole-in-the-Wall, 108 E. Main, Northville.  Several performance times are available. 
  • The Love List” at the Tipping Point Theater; several performance times are available.  361 E. Cady, Northville. 
  • Fairies and Trolls in Northville – a children’s class for ages 5+ in Mill Race Village January 21, 10:00-11:30. 
  • True Grit” – Movie at the Marquis – tickets are $3 and available at Planet Fitness, 235 E. Main, Northville, or $5 at the door.

Plymouth

  • Plymouth Ice Fest – many events all weekend in downtown Plymouth.  Check out the details and schedule by clicking here.  Don’t miss the Duelling Chainsaws Speed Carving Extravaganza – 7 p.m. Saturday!
  • Northern Skies Album Release Party at Liberty Street Brewing Co. – all ages – Saturday, January 21 at 9 p.m.  Located at 149 W. Liberty, Plymouth.
  • Duney Bros perform at E.G. Nick’s on Forest Avenue, Plymouth, Saturday night.  There will also be an ice bar on the deck!
  • Joey’s Comedy Club presents Paul Hooper with Larry XL this weekend. Several shows, so check their website for details.
  • J. Edgar” is showing at the Penn Theater, 760 Penniman, Plymouth at various times throughout the weekend.  All seats just $3. 
  • Ration Stamps and Bombers:  WWII at Home” at the Plymouth Historical Museum,  115 S. Main, Plymouth.
  • Plymouth Whalers host Sault Ste. Marie at Compuware Arena on Saturday, January 21.  Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.  The arena is located on the east side of Beck Road, north of M-14 and details are here.
  • Plymouth Community Arts Council presents “Slacker Art” oil paintings by Andrew Slackta.  Artist reception Friday January 20, 6-8 p.m. with the exhibit running through January 26.  Get the details here
  • Baseline Folk Society will host OPEN MIC at the Plymouth Community Arts Council facility at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 21.  Your host will be Doug McKlennan and the featured performer is Kathy Nieman & Friends.  $5 at the door – 774 N. Canton

  • ImaginOcean at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads in Canton.  This is a family friendly production by Broadway puppeteer John Tartaglia.  Show times and ticket information can be found by clicking here
  • International Festival at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill and Ridge Roads in Canton.  Song, dance, and performances from a variety of cultures.  Saturday, January 21 at 2:00.  Click here for information.
